Tamarin by Semidash Studios, a multiplayer VR game available on the Meta Quest platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you play Tamarin, why we collect it, and what choices you have. By downloading, installing, or playing Tamarin, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect


Account and Identity Information

We use PlayFab as our backend to track player data, manage cosmetics and your inventory. When you log in, we receive a unique player ID tied to your Meta account so we can save your cosmetics, settings, and progress across sessions. We do not collect your real name, email address, or billing information through PlayFab beyond what Meta itself already handles for platform login.


Multiplayer and Networking Data

Tamarin uses Photon PUN to connect you with other players in real time. To make multiplayer work, this includes syncing your in-game position, movements, cosmetics, and actions to other players in your session. This data is only used to keep gameplay synced and is not stored permanently after a session ends.


Voice Data

Tamarin uses the in-game voice chat service known as Photon Voice to let the community communicate with each other. To help keep the community safe, we use Meta's Voice SDK to log speech and detect language that goes against our Terms of Service. Audio itself is not recorded or stored by us. Only the transcribed text from your voice is compared to our moderation algorithm, and it is not kept afterward unless it results in a rule violation, in which case a record of the violation is saved as a transcript and is saved as a text file for our moderation team to review. We do not save the audio from your voice, only a transcribed text from the violation.


Device and Technical Information

Like most online games, we automatically receive some technical information needed to run multiplayer sessions, such as your headset type, general connection information, and basic diagnostic data used to fix bugs and crashes. This information is not used to personally identify you outside of your player account.


Cosmetics and In-App Purchases

We currently offer free and paid cosmetics in-game. These cosmetics cost Stellar Dust which is a virtual currency that does not use any real money. There are no paid in-app purchases available at this time. We plan to introduce the option to purchase Stellar Dust and in-game cosmetics using real money. Any future purchases will be processed entirely through Meta's official payment systems, and we will never see or store your payment details directly. We reserve the right to manage, modify, or remove purchasable content and to enforce our terms regarding purchased items, including in cases of fraud, chargebacks, or violations of our rules.


2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to run and improve Tamarin, including to:

Keep your account, cosmetics, and progress saved between play sessions, connect you with other players and keep multiplayer sessions synced, moderate voice chat and enforce our community rules, fix bugs, prevent cheating, and improve overall game performance, and communicate with you if you reach out to us for support.

3. Third-Party Services

Tamarin relies on a handful of third-party services to function. Each of these providers may collect or process limited data as part of providing their service to us:

Meta Platforms - handles your account login, headset identification, and any future payment processing.

PlayFab (Microsoft) - stores your player profile, inventory, and progress data.

Photon Engine - handles real-time multiplayer networking between players.

These providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data, and we encourage you to review them if you'd like more detail on their practices.


4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with the third-party services listed above as needed to run the game, or if required to do so by law, such as in response to a valid legal request.


5. Data Retention

We keep your account and progress data for as long as your account remains active on our systems. If you'd like your data removed, you can request deletion at any time by contacting us, and we'll process it within a reasonable timeframe.


6. Children's Privacy

Tamarin is intended for players aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we've collected data from a child under 13, we'll take steps to delete it.


7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email us at semidashstudios@gmail.com and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.


8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the data we handle, relying in part on the security measures provided by Meta, PlayFab, and Photon. That said, no system is ever fully secure, and we can't guarantee absolute protection of your information.


9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Tamarin grows and changes, especially as new features like in-app purchases and public multiplayer events are introduced. Any updates will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. We recommend checking back occasionally to stay informed.
